The goal of the Lands and Resources Coordinating Unit is to work with the community in developing and implementing policies and procedures regarding lands management and resource development on reserve and within the traditional territory.
The Lands and Resources Coordinating Unit will assist Serpent River First Nation who strive to protect, enhance, rehabilitate, sustainably develop and harmoniously coexist with the land, air and water we have traditionally relied upon for our existence. We commit to working in an open, co-operative and peaceful manner with individuals, communities, industry and governments through the recognition of our Aboriginal and Treaty rights.
Serpent River First Nation will utilize our existing capacity in lands and resource management to develop natural resource policies, procedures and guidelines for our reserve and traditional lands, while striving to increase the level of capacity and expertise of Serpent River staff to respond in a thorough, responsible, participatory manner to a variety of lands and resources proposals.
